Data conversion is the conversion of one form of computer data to another.
Primary purpose of changing the format of the data to another is to enable the desired application to use that data which are in non-usable-code. The data conversion can be illustrated by converting a text file form on character encoding to another. Some of the tedious conversion are of non-editable office file format such as .pdf, png, png, .tiff, .gif etc to editable file format such as .txt, .doc, .xls. etc. Besides the above-mentioned format some other format are the conversion of audio and video file formats.
Before indulging into conversion of the format, some of the important theory one should remember are:
i. One can easily obliterate data by using the computer software but to add the data take time and efforts, hence caution is a virtue here.
ii. Even while adding the data with the help of the software one can add the data based on the principle of the software hence the human involvement and touch is necessary for any conversion process.
iii. More so by converting one format to another does add any data into the converted format but it only enable to male some more space to add the data into the newly converted format.
Due to such a nature of the process, this operation is more tedious and possibilities of the blunder cannot be ruled out. Hence, the help of the profession is always a viable option than to process the data by using self-help software.
Another most important and vital point to look out for while making the conversion is to check and the converted format will support the same features and capabilities which were in the non-converted format without any loss of data during the transition. The converted data must be such that it should be easily accepted by the application for which the data has been converted. The data which might be loss during the conversion can be alleviated by approximation in the converted format.
For any conversion to be successful the comprehensive understanding of the format which is to be converted and the format in which the data is to be converted is essential. If the knowledge of the targeted format is complete, one must try to convert the data in to the format which has almost all the features which are required by minimizing the loss of features and data.
